Troubleshooting Webcam Connection Issues

Please check that all the settings below are properly configured.

Refer to the FAQ section at the bottom of the page as well.

Are you using a device that meets the minimum requirements?We cannot be responsible for connection issues that occur on the test day if you use an environment below the minimum requirements. Please prepare your test environment according to the minimum requirements.→ Check Minimum Requirements

Are you using the latest version of your operating system and browser?The test is optimized for the latest versions of the operating system and Chrome browser.Please refer to the FAQ section to make sure your OS and browser are up to date.

Have you closed all programs unrelated to the test?Please refer to the FAQ section and close or uninstall all programs unrelated to the test.In particular, check for security software and programs that use your webcam, such as Zoom or AquaNPlayer.

Did you restart your PC?If your PC has been running for too long, or has missed updates, or is experiencing a temporary issue, it may not run properly.In many cases, rebooting resolves the problem. Please try again after restarting your PC.


Are your camera and microphone working properly?Please make sure both your camera and microphone are functioning. If they do not work properly, the issue may be with the devices themselves.

If you are using an external camera, check that the cable is securely connected.

Have you checked your camera settings?

Security settings may be blocking your camera.If your keyboard has an fn key or a dedicated camera function key, please make sure it is not disabling your camera.

Please refer to the troubleshooting steps provided by your device manufacturer.


Are you using the latest version of Chrome?

  • Click the three dots at the top-right corner of Chrome → Settings → About Chrome.

  • Or, enter chrome://settings/help in the address bar.

Have you checked Chrome permission settings?Click the icon on the left side of the address bar to review browser permissions.

Have you tried resetting Chrome settings?

  • Click the three dots at the top-right corner → Settings → Reset settings → Restore settings to their original defaults.

  • Or, enter chrome://settings/reset in the address bar.


Restart your PCIf your PC has been running for too long, has missed updates, or is experiencing a temporary issue, it may not run properly.In many cases, rebooting resolves the problem. Please try again after restarting your PC.

Use Chrome Incognito ModeClick the three dots at the top-right corner of Chrome and open a new Incognito window, then access the test page again.You can reopen the invitation email or copy and paste the test page URL into the new window.

Check manufacturer troubleshooting stepsDepending on your PC settings, camera use may be restricted. Please check the troubleshooting guide from your device manufacturer.

Try a different browserThe test is optimized for the latest version of Chrome. However, if Chrome does not work properly, try Whale or Edge browser.

  • Click Change Camera or Change Microphone to switch to the correct device.

  • OBS Studio is free and open-source software for video recording and live streaming.This program may cause errors when connecting your webcam, which can make it difficult to proceed with the test.

How to Exit/Delete

  • Windows

    • End the task in Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del).

    • Taskbar → Search “Programs and Features” → Apps & Features → Remove OBS-VirtualCam.

  • Mac OS

    • Open Finder → Go to Folder (Cmd + Shift + G).

    • Enter /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/.

    • Delete the file named obs-mac-virtualcam.

    • (You may be asked to enter your password to confirm plugin deletion.)

  • IVCAM is a multimedia application that turns your mobile phone into a high-quality webcam for your computer.This program may cause errors when connecting your webcam, which can make it difficult to proceed with the test.

How to Exit/Delete

  • Windows

    • End the task in Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del).

    • Taskbar → Search “Programs and Features” → Apps & Features → Remove IVCAM.

  • Mac OS

    • Open Finder → Applications.

    • Move the IVCAM app to the Trash.


If a test taker is using two webcams and wants to switch between them in the video device settings page, both cameras must be granted access in Chrome camera settings.

  1. In Chrome, go to the top-right menu (three dots) → SettingsPrivacy and securitySite settingsCamera.

  2. Select each camera and set it to Ask before accessing.

  3. Refresh the test page and check which camera is currently selected.

    • Click the icon on the left side of the address bar → Camera → View camera permission details.

    • Or, on the test page, go to Connect WebcamChange Camera.

  4. If the camera you want to use is not selected, switch to the correct camera.

Which programs should I close or uninstall?

End or uninstall all programs not related to the test.Pay special attention to apps that use the camera, such as Zoom or AquaNPlayer.

Examples:

  • Security programs: Alyac, V3, banking security software

  • Security modules: TouchEn, Veraport, Wizvera Process Manager, iniLINE CrossEX Service, AnySign4PC

  • Video/camera programs: Zoom, AquaNPlayer

  • Ad blockers: AdGuard, AdBlock, Unicorn

  • Browser-blocking tools: iZicimi, etc.

Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of Chrome and open Settings.Go to About Chrome to check for updates.

You can also type chrome://settings/help in the address bar to open the update page directly.

Can I use a browser other than Chrome?

The test environment is optimized for the latest version of Chrome, and using it is strongly recommended.However, you can also access the test using Edge or Whale browsers.

How do I reset Chrome?

Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner → SettingsReset settingsRestore settings to their original defaults.

You can also type chrome://settings/reset in the address bar to open the reset page directly.

How do I open an Incognito window in Chrome?

Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of Chrome and select New Incognito window.

  • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + N

  • Mac: ⌘ + Shift + N

Then, try accessing the test page again using the Incognito window.

How to disable hardware acceleration in Chrome
  • Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of Chrome and go to Settings.

  • In the System section, turn off Use hardware acceleration when available.

  • Click Relaunch to restart your browser.

Do I need a microphone?

Yes. Microphone access is required when connecting your webcam.

If the microphone isn’t working properly, the webcam connection may fail.

Please use a webcam with a built-in microphone.
